I have always assumed that Lady Caroline Keppel and her Robert/Robin Adair were English. The Family Tree Maker Online Genealogical Library family History of Hughes, Dalton, Martin, Henderson families of Virginia, pg 80 states: "The Hon. Augustus Keppel, brother of Lady Caroline Kepple, who wrote Robin Adair, and son of Earle of Albemarle, "General and Commander of all and singular our Troops and Forces, Edward Braddock." I have been trying to determine if this Robert Adair is the grandfather of Robert Sidney Adair killed by Tories in 1783 in SC when returning home from the war. A biography written about his son Judge R.S.Adair in Gwinnett County GA in 1879 says Robert Sidney was born and named in England for his Grandfathers, Robin Adair and Sir John Sidney.
Do you have any other information on Lady Keppel? Please contact me directly as I don't frequent these message boards very often. Ed
