We are trying to find some info on my wife's great-grandmother Anna Maria ADELSBACH born in Trier, Rheinlan-Pfalz, Germany September 24, 1860. Anna Maria married Johann TURKES born in Schrollbac (now part of Niedermohr, Kaiserslautern), Rheinhessen-Pfalz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany on December 27, 1852. Johann, who is supposed to have had 5 sisters and no brother, asked his father for his inheritance in order to emigrate to America. His father gave him the money. Johann and Anna booked second class passage and emigrated to the United States arriving in the Pittsburgh area in the late 1880's with enough farming implements, tools and money to get a good start in their new land. I have a good bit on information on Anna Maria's family, but know nothing of the circumstances of how she and Johann, from different geographical areas, met and married. I suspect Johann may have changes his name, because there are no other Turkes in America other than a family that changed its name from Turkovich.
