Mary,
Hi- my husband is realted in he Houston line somehow. Its through a Baggett, who is Cherokee. Her name was Magdalene or Minerva Houston Baggett.
Also your name, Hicks was in my grandfathers adoptive names line-her name was Mary Hicks Eckert.
