I realize I've dropped back to the beginning of this thread to answer a question you asked in a later message, BUT...

What is your basis for thinking/hoping to identify an American Indian connection in this family group? Your posted questions and comments provide no basis I can recognize as hinting at these folks being Indian.

Take a look at the time periods for Indian land cessions in the geographic areas where your folks lived. You might start here: http://www.tngenweb.org/cessions/ (this is limited to the southeastern U.S.)

There are other sites from law schools which have additional information, but from a different point of view. There are maps so you can compare the land ceded away by the Indians to the locations your people lived.
With more historical fact in your records, perhaps you will sharpen your focus of research on a more productive area.
