My father thought his mother was part Indian, his sibling did not remember this as true. Her maiden name was Waldrop, Her ancestry was Shadrack Waldrop (1790-1849)SC. His son Bartley Wilkes Waldrop (1825-1864) born in SC lived in Henderson Co, NC as an adult, m. Jain Couch also listed as Jane Lynch? Bartley called Jain his Dutch wife in a letter, could she have been Black Dutch? Their son Jefferson Davis Waldrop (1860-1941) born in NC and moved back to SC with his mother after his father (Bartley) died in Civil war. Jefferson married Dolar Waters also seen as Dolie, Dolly and their daughter Elizabeth Jane Waldrop (1891-1933) b. in SC was my grandmother she died before I was born. Does any one know if any of the names above have an American Indian connection. Thank you, Carolyn
