Hi Juanita,
Thanks for the the post. I have not found John Dorris or "Miss Painter" Dorris in any census, that is part of the problem. As I said in my post, the only thing I have is information from my grandfather's (their son) death certificate. Also, I suspect John Dorris would not have been around for a WW-I draft card registration, at best he would have been elderly by then. My grandfather was born in 1874, so John would probably have been in his 70s or ? by WW-I.
