Thanks for your reply. This is my son-in-laws line and his ancestor is Arthur Stewart Akin, possibly the son of Samuel. Many of this Akin clan wound up in Southeast Arkansas. I had a feeling there were kinks in this research as so many online trees are flawed. I have seen my own work passed on to others as theories, make it to Ancestry or Rootsweb as fact.
I am sorry I don't have anything to offer you on your husbands ancestor but will keep my eyes peeled. I have a Francis Marion in THREE of my lines. This Rev War hero obviously made a lasting impression.
