I'm sorry, I must have been barking up the wrong Umphress. My MarthaAnn Emarintha Umphress that married Jessie M. Aldredge, Sr. was the daughter of Mitchel B. Umphress (by any other spelling) Mitchel was born in GA also, and it sure would be nice if the two were related, but I can't find any proof. Mitchel died 1859 Jefferson Co., FL. Spouses Sarah then Martha Horton, m. (both) Washington Co., GA Have you run across Mitch or a Benjamin in your research. Ben's relationship is obscure, b. 1777 NC.
