David Alexander, b 1724, son Isaac

I'm looking for the father of Isaac Alexander, born 1789 in North Carolina. My best lead right now is David Alexander, born 1724 in MD and lived later in Mecklenburg, NC. His will was filed on May 31, 1796 showing a wife named Elizabeth and multiple children, including a son named Isaac.

When I find trees for David Alexander born in 1724 in MD with a wife Elizabeth, they show a son named Isaac born in 1817 - which obviously is after the death of David Alexander.

Does anyone have input on and Issac son of David?
