Sharon, I'm not sure this helps, but I found that Mary's parents were listed as born in Tennessee, not Kentucky - 1880 US Census. From the 1870 US Census there is no indication of where her parents were from. Also, I found no listing of her sister Susan. From the children of Jesse and Mary you might find names that match up with some names of folks buried in Kentucky and Missouri at findagrave.com, though this is a stretch, for sure. Problem with this is also that the Swope children appear to have common names: Sarah, John, Nancy, Charles and Emma. Still, might be worth a try, as it was very common to name kids after grandparents throughout history, it appears. For example, I found a Charles Fontaine Alexander, b. 1819; d. 1895 KY; he md. Maria Lucas in 1845 and had a Mary Louisa Alexander (??). Was Charles Swope named after him? Just an example.
Good luck
