Dear Margi,
We are definitely in the same Allan family even though my end of the family has the spelling as Allen. We are so much in the same family as to share Robert and Anne (Anna?) Leslie Allan as GGGrandparents. I don't have a list of siblings (and would appreciate one if you have it), but they did have a daughter, Isabella McGrue Allan (11/29/1833-6/23/1921, buried in Plum Creek Cemetery, Allegheny Co., PA) who married John Euwer. John and Isabella Euwer's daughter, Anna Mary, married Joseph McKee Swank. My father was one of their sons, John Cargill Swank. I can supply you with that end of the family if you are interested.
As to going back, I don't know if you have made any headway, and it looks like quite a while since you have posted. I have some hunches, and that's all they are at this time. How firm are your birth dates? My dates don't fit your years, but they are close so certainly in the right time frame.
