West Allen was named for his mother's West family, she being an Elizabeth West.

My grandmother on my daddy's side was an Allen. Parks is my mom's side of the family.
John Parks
Thomas Parks I
Thomas Parks II
Thomas Parks III
Charity Parks b.6-7-1776 NC m. Richard Chandler, Wilkes Co. NC, that's where my Parks line ends.

A couple of generations later I have Allens marrying into my Chandler line. David Weldon Allen b. abt 1875 NC married Alice Chandler, dtr. of my gg uncle William Pierce Chandler, he being the gr. grandson of Richard Chandler and Charity Parks. Both died in Haralson Co. GA, David in 1965.

David's Weldon Allen's parents Champion A. Allen b. abt. 1833 NC & Elizabeth Sarah Camp b. NC.; grandparents David Allen, Sr. b. 1796 NC and Elizabeth Camp (yep again kinfolk marrying each other). Gr. grandparent Larkin Allen b. ca. 1770. These same Camps married into my Wofford line.

In discussions with descendants of Larkin Allen, they are sure he is part of my Allen line but the final piece of the puzzle hasn't been found to prove this conclusively.

If you would like to compare notes, email me at pfchilds2001@yahoo.com. Put Allen in subject box, so I don't delete you.
