My great great grandfather Reinhard Alster arrived in America on August 7th, 1883 aboard the ship Frisia accompanied by 5 children. My great grandfather Conrad age 16, Anna age 14, Adam age 9, Johns age 8 and Caroline age 4.
My great grandfather, Conrad(b. May 1867), married Barbara Brandstetter/Brandstaedter/Brandstaetter(b. Sept. 1866) around 1884. They lived in various locations in what is now known as the Brooklyn and Queens sections of New York City and raised at least 11 of their own children. (1)George b. 11/7/1887, (2)Peter b. May 1889, (3)Elizabeth(my grandmother) b. 4/22/1893, (4)John b. 12/11/1895, (5)Pauline b. 1/2/1898, (6)Conrad Jr. b. 3/28/1899, (7)Fred b. 11/12/1903, (8)Christine b. 5/31/1905, (9)Charlotte b. 1908, and 2 others. Elizabeth is listed on her birth certificate as being the 4th child so an "unknown #10" was born sometime before 1893. We suspect that (#11) was Reinhard G Alster, b. 6/25/1900 and being the last of the 11 known children.
My grandmother, Elizabeth Alster married Frederick Dietz in 1916 and they had 3 children, Fred(my father) b. 5/5/1917, Helen b. 2/19/1919 and Walter b. 8/24/1922.
My father Fred Dietz married Margaret Lappin on 9/18/1943.
I would like to find out more information about my great great Reinhard, what his wife's name was, did she come to Ametrica too, or die in Germany before Reinhard and his 5 children came to in America?
The Alster family was listed as being from the Waldeck, Hesse, Nassau section of Germany and Reinhard was listed as being a butcher.
