Can anyone here tell me more about this Regiment, where they fought etc. I am having a heck of a time finding info via a Google search regarding this regt. and these officers. Perhaps I am not asking in the proper manner or perhaps their just isn't any info about this particular regiment. Did it (they) serve at the Cherry Valley Massacre? I know Col. Alden was killed or died and then someone or several someone's took over in his place...Col. Brooks I believe was one of them, but I know so little about this. Supposedly my 5th grt. grandfather James MOODY served during the Rev. War and according to Buxton, York Co., Maine Historical records, he enlisted At Ticonderoga, NY in Dec. 1777 into Capt. Daniel Lane's Comp. and former Col. Ichabod Alden's Regt. - MA Continental line. He served for "ye duration of ye war" and was apparently released from service sometime in very late 1780 or very early 1781. He listed that he resided in Ticonderoga, NY but I have been told that that was because Buxton, York Co., ME where his family may have been living at the time of his enlistment, was not Incorporated as a town at that time and that soldier's had to give an address of a town that Was incorporated so often gave the town of enlistment as their residence even though they never actually resided in those towns. Anyway, that is basically all that I have been able to find out about my 5th grt. grandfather's Rev. War service. NARA had no record of him, the DAR has no records of him other than his name and that he served in the MA Cont. line and his wife's name as Elizabeth DONALD (gleaned from their Marriage record in Jan. 1774 at the Church of Christ (Congrgational) in Buxton, York Co., Maine). Someone actually filed for membership into the DAR using my 5th grt. grandfather as their DAR ancestor based on the marriage of his daughter Sarah "Sally" MOODY who married Simon NEWCOMB in Buxton, ME and some of the details submitted for the membership are incorrect (I have copies of these papers). If anyone here can tell me more about this Regiment that my 5th grt. grandfather Might have served in, I would be most greatful. I cannot get out to a Library anymore so my research is pretty much done these days from my computer. I hope someone can enlighten me a bit more about this Reg. or at least point me in the right direction on the internet to read about it for myself. Due to my lack of computer skills, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank You. Notify Administrator about this message?
