You can order a copy of the pension application file from the National Archives at this site:

http://www.archives.gov/contact/inquire-form.html#part-a

If you want the whole file, tell them that.

You will need identification of the Regiment (battles irrelevant to ordering), e.g., "First Pennsvylania Regiment (Continental)." If you found the pension file number beginning with an S-, W- or R-, they will want that as well.

If your lack of access to footnote.com is due to subscription cost, you will find that a month's sub to the site is a lot less expensive than the cost of the file from the Archives.

A few pages from the file can be viewed on HeritageQuest, which is available free to many library patrons in the US, eiether at the library or in some cases from home using your library card number.
