I and collaborators are working a research issue in my Frederick line that relates to John Ankeny, Dewalt's third son as he listed them in his will. In most Dewalt Ankeny stories, John is identified as the natural son of Dewalt's second wife: Margretha Becker and her first husband: Noah Friederich. The stories are that Dewalt adopted him, changed his name, and treated him as a natural son in all ways. On the Frederick side, there is a baptism record for a John George Frederick, delivered by Margretha on 27 Mar 1757, five months after Noah was killed by Indians. We find no further records for him. Y-Chromosomes are passed down through the male line. If two DNA samples have matching Y-Chromosomes, then the probability is high that they have a common male ancestor. 1. If our Frederick Y-Chromosomes matched that of a descendant of John, then the research issues for both lines would be resolved. 2. If a descendant of John matched a descendant of an accepted natural son of Dewalt, then the Ankeny issue would be resolved. We request the help of anyone who can contribute DNA or information.
