Looking for family of Louis (Lewis) A. Apple of North Carolina. I have an obituary from an Indiana newspaper, The Plainfield Messenger, dated 18 Nov. 1926.
PIONEER FRIENDSHIP MILLER DIES AT HOME
Louis Apple, age 86, a pioneer resident of Friendswood, died at his home, Saturday. Mr. Apple was born in Guilford County, North Carolina. He served in the Confederate Army in the Civil War.
At the close of the Civil War, he came to Indiana and engaged in the milling business. He assisted in building the Mooresville flour mill in 1867-8 and also the mill at Friendswood. Mr. apple continued in this work until four years ago. He married in 1862, Sarah Ann Elliott. His first wife died in 1882 and in 1890 he married Mary Carson, who survives him. Two daughters, Mrs Frank Allison of Indianapolis and Mrs S.E. Thomas of Stinesville, and two sons, J.M. Apple of Brazil and W.E. Apple of Mooresville; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held at the Friendswood M.E. Church, of which he was a member, Tuesday, at 1:30 pm, conducted by the Rev. A.M. Andrews. Burial was in the Mooresville cemetery.
