Rita,
I recommend that you read Chapter XXXV of "The Goodspeed Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Southern Arkansas," Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1890. I found a copy in the Clayton Geneological Branch of the City of Houston Library. Beginning on page 1064 there is a list the settlers and plantations of Chicot County. In case you cannot find a copy, I will give a brief extract: "Vaucluse" was settled early by Samuel Walker. That comes after discussion of "Leland Plantation" and before the discussion of "Sunnyside Plantation" which tells you that Vaucluse was between the other two plantations. The author was tracing the deveopment of Chicot County from the northeast corner "down the river side to the Louisiana State line." I did not see Samuel Walker's name is the biographical sketches.
