Thank you for your response.

The William Russell I am looking for was Justice of the Peace in Columbia Township, Lawrence County, from 1815 through at least 1819.

He was alive, living in Lawrence County through 1826. He first appeared on the tax roll in 1815.

It appears he died in November of 1826 in Lawrence County, as Letters of Administration were given to Mary Russell on 11-28-1826. James G. Russell is also listed. I believe Mary to have been his wife.

In December of 1821, this William Russell wrote a "character certificate" for our William Robinson. Such recommendations were required for settling in Mexican Tejas.

He was not the land speculator in Arkansas, and whose correspondence is found in the State Papers.

Thank you again for your response, and any information you might have on this William Russell.

Houston, Texas
