Hi Maggie,
my name is JoAnn LaMew, my ggggrand father was Pierre Lemieux. He was at the Arkansas post in the late 1790s. they owned land in Clay and Lawrence County in the early 1800s. My gggggrand father was Antoine Janis, he was there also on the Black river. I have a document that has the sale of thier land to a William Russell from St Louis.
I do not think this is your William. I am working on my family tree, it is on Ancestry.
