I've see the marriage bond of George Archard and Jane Fry. The clerk or whomever filled out the information writes George Orchard and Jane Frey. The bond was written on 17 Nov 1801. George Orchard signed his name and it is clearly written as George Archard as his signature. I have also seen the two marriage index entries of George Orchard and Jane Fry and George Archard to Jane Fry. They are the exact same records, same page 55 and same No 221 for the years 1801,1802 Wiltshire County. Two different interpretations and in my interpretation it could be either. The records are very faded. The marriage date is 21 November 1801. Other info I was able to retrieve from these records. The marriage entry states George was of the parish of Chippenham. The Bond say's that George was of Tything and Pewsham. These places mean little to me as I am not that familar with the geography. On the Bond the first lines say "Know all given by these presents that Mr George Orchard of the Tything of Pewsham adjoining to this parish of Calne Carrier and Benjamin Bodman of Calne in the county of Wilts" I do not know what this means and the rest of the record is hard to read. I don't know who this Benjamin Bodman would be. If there is anyone out there who can help or who may know anything of George and Jane (Fry). Or anyone who understands the old english or familar with what the bonds generaly says. I would be most greatful for any help. I was not able to get parents names from these records.
