My Archer or Archard line is from NY also. I have seen the same people spelled both ways. This is some of what I have:
ARCHER
The Otsquago Church, the Giesenberg Church, and Lutheran St. Paul’s Church:
The early Squake (Otsquago) church in the Kyle above Van Hornesville; the Geisenberg church near Hallsville; and the Sand Hill church at Fort Plain were established as societies about 1750, but the buildings were not erected until about ten years later. Little or no records of the "Squake" church exist. The first Geisenberg church was built about 1767, according to deeds showing the acquisition of the land on which it was built. This was a wooden structure and was superseded by a brick church in 1806. The early records of the church are missing and those on file in the State Library (copy of original) do not contain marriage and death records. The records of the early Sand Hill church were destroyed in Brant's raid, and few records have been found of the early years of the second church erected at Fort Plain. It is the unfortunate destruction of these records which makes genealogical research so difficult. The existing Stone Arabia, German Flats and Herkimer church records are incomplete and cover only in a very limited way the period under discussion here.
The town of Minden was formed 3-2-1772. . . . The town of Stark was formed from Danube, March 18, 1828 Otsquago Settlement, the site of the Otsquago Church was within the limit of the town of Stark, upon the Otsquago Creek.
. . . The second Geisenberg Church, having the corporate name of the Lutheran St. Paul’s Church in the Town of Minden, was built of brick and stood upon the Geisenberg Glebe Lot . . .This spot is on a knoll, about one hundred feet west from the rear of the George Hall homestead, now the property of Mr. Fred H. Cronkhite. . . . The parsonage stood upon the Glebe Lot, about forty feet northeast of the George Hall homestead; the date of its erection is unknown. While both the Geisenberg and the Otsquago Churches were flourishing, services were held in them alternately; and some of the pious members of the Otsquago Church made the journey to Geisenberg, on Sundays when no service was held in their church . . . After Dom. Wieting’s death, the Minden Church became a part of the charge of the Rev. Peter Wilhelm Domeier, who was also Pastor at Stone Arabia, Palatine, and Johnstown. Mr. Dormeier’s pastorate closed in May 1824. Afterwards for about three years, the church suffered from an impostor.

I believe Mattheus/Matthew Archer/Archard may work into the Fordham Manor Archers, but I'm not sure. I descend from Thomas Archer. Do you have Archard information which may match mine in some way? I can send you more.
