Some of the postings on this forum show a John Archer b. 1644 m. Elizabeth Royall. Is this the John Archer that died in Elizabeth City Co., VA in 1696, leaving widow Elizabeth?
I think it was this John Archer’s widow Elizabeth that married a Charles Batt/Batts [perhaps, actually Charles Batte] of Elizabeth City Co., VA by 1696. There are very few records for this Charles Batt/Batts.
A Henry Royall witnesses George Archer Sr.’s will probated 1731 in Henrico Co., VA. Is this the same Henry Royall that appears in Elizabeth City Co., VA’s extant 1690’s era records? Within these records, a Henry Royall appears in records with a Thomas Batte and a Thomas Batts (probably one in the same).
George Archer (I presume it was the one that d. 1731) receives a land grant in Henrico Co., VA on April 21, 1695 for…1,536 acres on the N. side of Appamattocks River…in the parish of Bristol…adjoining the land of Thomas Batts [Thomas Batte Sr.].
A Gabriel “Arther” is mentioned in records in Henrico Co., VA. Is this actually a Gabriel Archer?
If anyone can help me figure out how the Royall’s and Archer’s mentioned above connect with one another (and how connected between Henrico Co., VA and Elizabeth City Co., VA), I would appreciate it.
