I know this is an unusual request, but the first name Armfield has been in my family for 232 years, every generation had an Armfield as a first name. It starts with Armfield Cooper b. 1768 in York County PA. My mom's name is Amfield, it was changed from Armfield to Amfield somewhere around 1824, we have tried to keep the name in the family so far, my sister and niece's middle names are Amfield, I have a very large family and everyone always wondered where that name came from. It had to come from the last name Armfield. I finally found this list and hope someone can help me. Here are the names before Armfield Cooper. JAMES ABERCROMBIE from Edinburg, Scotland, he married REBECCA COLGAN. ALICE GILL b.1700, she married JOHN COOPER, b. 1689, from Kendal England. STEPHEN GILL b.1673, from Yorkshire, England, he married ELIZABETH HUBBARD. I feel that it had to be one of these names connected to Armfield. They all settled around Baltimore Md. and York County, PA except for Abercrombie, I think they moved to North Carolina. Would appreciate any help or suggestions on how to continue my search.
