I have in my tree a Madelin (Magdelene) Arnot, b 3 Jun 1811, Crossgates, Fife. She apparently married a James Baxter at some time, but is mentioned in Dunfermline Aliment Records having an illegitimate male child with Thomas Chalmers of Pitdinnie, born on 25 Apr 1841. She later married Henry Meldrum on 3 July 1847 and had a daughter Matilda born in Dunfermline in 1848. If she was also involved with a James Arnot, he might have been a member of her family.
Mike
