I think my Lucinda might be the mother you are looking for! Let me explain. My great-grandfather was James Thurman Hammers born in Paint Rock, Ala abt. 1855. The funeral records in Tullahoma, Coffee Co. Tenn. say that James' mother was Lucinda Austell. His father William Hammers. Jackson Co. records show Lucinda Austin marrying Wiliam Hammons! Then for Lucinda's second marriage she married William Ivey. That is listed in Jackson Co. records as Lucinda Hammers marriage to William Hammers.Maybe it was not a second marriage! She also had children by Ivey! In St. Barnabus Episcopal Church records when she was baptised, she claimed that Richard and Harriet were the names of her parents. She was married to Ivey when Baptised. Could her parents have been Quakers? What is the middle name of your Lucinda? My Lucinda is buried in Tullahoma as Lucinda Ivey, mother of James T. Hammers....even though she had other children. Coffee Co. is very close to Jackson Co. She was said to have had some Native American blood. I do not have any pictures. Lucinda died in abt. 1901. She "claimed" to have been born in abt. 1835. None of them could read or write. Does any of this compute? Carmen McDaniel Forbes
