This is an excerpt from this issue of the newspaper:

A Board of Trade
Center, I. T., Dec. 29, 1894 The enterprising citizens of this place met and organized a Board of Trade by electing DR. C. A. POLK as temporary president. Others: DR. CARR, PROF. GILLASPIE, GEORGE W. SAINS, W.A. FIELDS, DR. A. G. AUSTELL. Center is a inland town 30 miles east of the Santa Fe RR and is one of the resolute cities of its age. It is less than two years old and has 10 flourishing business houses.
