I am researching these families in Va., their place of origin. I have Durham Avant (Avent) as the father of Elizabeth Avant who married William Clements in Greensville Co. Va. in 1814. Durham was there in the tax list in 1789. I also have a record of a Mason being appointed guardian of two Avent children in 1789, and all the neighbors of our Clements in 1850 were Avents, Masons, and Moores. These families were thick in Southside Va.
