Have you requested Norman's death certificate from Texas? Another suggestion would be to do some newpaper lookups from the Mineral Wells area. 1880 Census for Memphis, Shelby Co., TN Norman L. Avery, occupation Salesman 1900 Census, Houma, Terrabonne Co., LA N.L. Avery, occupation Merchant I think you're overlooking the fact that Norman was a salesman/merchant. It's very possible he was in Texas in 1907 on business. 1910 Census, Memphis, Shelby Co., TN Hamilton K Avery, occupation Merchant, at a Supply Co. Hamilton was a manager at Barnes Crosby Company (one of the largest engraving houses in the US) Source: Memphis City Directory, 1909 I've seen several of your posts on this family and have some comments regarding Minnie. If she was buried with her Avery surname then I doubt she was ever married to anyone after Norman. In the 1910 Census she's listed as widowed, and in 1920 she's living with her son Norman and she's still listed as widowed. In 1918 Norman Lenoir Avery Jr. was a merchant working at The Avery Co in Memphis. He filled out a draft registration card for WWI. Remember, tall tales are fictional, the short factual tales are the genealogist's best friend! Notify Administrator about this message?
