Alburn is my ggg grandfather. I traveled to Missouri last summer, and visited the Shady Grove Cemetery, where Alburn is buried next to his second wife (Mary A. Ball, married cir. 1840-41)) and his third wife (Mary “Polly” Angeline Rector, married 4 Feb 1865). Many other Ayres/Ayers are buried there as well. I also visited the Polk County Genealogical Society, but only had an hour to look through their records.

Along with various others, Alburn signed a petition filed with the County Court for the incorporation of Humansville in May 1872. Alburn's obituary refereed to him as "one of the oldest and most substantial citizens of Humansville." It also states that "[h]is loss is a serious blow not only to his friends and relatives, but to Humansville, and the whole county, as he was one of the wealthiest and best men in the county."

Our family papers show that Alburn was married to Nancy Rector in Virginia—date and location are unknown. Census records show that they had four children there: Evan William Ayres (b. 11 Oct 1833); Marcellus Yokum Ayres (b. 3 Oct 1835; d. 12 May 1926); Samuel Richmond Ayres (b. 19 Mar 1837; d. 18 Oct 1909); and Johnson J. Ayres (b. 7 Mar 1839). I do not know whether Nancy died in Virginia, in Missouri, or somewhere in between.

Once Alburn came to Missouri, he had eight children with Mary Ball: Elinor Jane (b. 20 Jan 1842); Francis Marion Ayres (b. 6 Dec. 1844; d. 15 Jul 1915); Sarah E. Ayres (b. 25 Nov 1846); Logan S. Ayres (b. 7 Jan 1848); Margaret Ayres (b. 1849); Mary Adeline Ayres (b. 8 Sep 1850); Christopher Columbus Ayres (b. 3 May 1852; d. 25 Apr 1935); and George Washington Ayres (b. 3 Sep 1854; d. 4 Aug 1934). He had one child with “Polly” Rector: Minnie M. Ayres (b. 20 Dec 1867; d. 10 Jul 1932).

Any additional information (or corrections) about Alburn, his wives, or his children (or later descendants) would be helpful. I am hoping to find some clue as to where he lived in Virginia (either with Nancy and their children, or as a child).
