BABB : a surname, origin: A little over two thousand years ago, those d---- Romans invaded Persia to rob, kill and carry off slaves, the young and healthy Persians were prized as household servants. According to Roman tradition the slaves were given as a last name the name of the city or region where they were captured. Thus the name BABB was given to those PERSIANS captured in BABYLON or BABBLAND or LAND of GATES, BAB (singular) for portal, doorway or Gateway. Ancient Babylon was a city of twelve square miles, built by addition on addition with gates to connect each additional owners courtyard. The Romans gave a first name to the Slaves of a household that was common to other households sometimes according to the slaves position, such as “Preston” or “one who comes quickly when called.” This Roman convention for naming slaves was represented by American slave owners, the name “POMPEY” was given to the slave that met guests at the front and took their rigs to the barns to feed and water the horses. Other names for slaves in the household were common from plantation to plantation, according to position, so that the guests from a neighbor plantation would know the personal name of the Butler and so on. Names of ancient Roman leaders and their wives was in vogue for the slaves and amusement of the owners and guests, to order powerful named persons as house servants. Joseph of Aramathia, an admirer of JESUS, owned many Persian slaves, they were prized for their loyalty and intelligence throughout ROME. Slaves were, for those reasons, promoted to positions of responsibility, such as city managers, clerks, scribes, etc. This convention is represented today in America by the term “PUBLIC SERVANT”. People bearing the name BABB came to America by way of England, (Roman “Britain”) where Joseph of Aramathia, one of the richest men in ancient ROME) made fortunes trading products of mining operations of which TIN was of great value in ROME. Joseph of Aramanthia brought Christianity to the British Isles three centuries before the Romans accepted Christianity. Subsequent invasions carried away stories of Jesus to tribes on the continent. The British Isles were invaded by the Evil Roman Catholic Church in 597 again 1066 by William the Conqueror and the British Isles survived in turmoil until Henry VIII disenfranchised the Roman Catholic Church in 1534, Catholics could not own land or bequeath or serve in the military. The Roman Catholic Church would never again be the state church. My ancestors lived through eight hundred years of Roman Catholic Rule, in England and America, one thousand years of unbelievable, unnecessary horror in Europe. The past leaves a lasting impression on the souls of the surviving generations. My grandfathers’ name was PRESTON. Milton Babb P.
