Hi. My maternal grandfather was a Babin, from what was Niklova (now Mikulasova) Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia). He was one of about 9 children who (mostly all) emmigrated to USA and Canada in the 19teens. A few did stay in Europe as well.

His grandfather (and father?) may have been from from Babin generations ago.

My grandfather and some of his siblings changed their name to Bodrucki but may have also used Babin-Bodrucki ("Bodrutski" in Rusyn)... etc.

There are likely other Rusyn Babins in Canada who are children of my grandfather's (2) brothers who emigrated there. I think they were named Michael and Peter (but not sure) and would have emigrated there in 19teens/twenties I suspect. They both had farms at that time I believe. There is one sister (my great aunt, about 90) who is alive in Venice Florida.
