After a considerable time gap I have come back to write that despite Nichols's date of 1544, Sir Anthony Babington MP died on 23 August, 1536. His will was drawn up on 18 February 1534 and proved on 2 September, 1536. I have a copy. These dates are given in The History of Parliament by Wedgwood. Catherine,his widow,died in 1537, and in her will refers to her wish to be beside her husband, and encourages their son to continue and finish their work on the church at Kingston-upon-Soar.
