Meadowview, VA – Charles E. Bailey Sr., 85, passed away
Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Bluefield, WVA, and had lived most of
his life in Meadowview. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
and served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He
retired from Appalachian Power Co. after 36 years of service.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ryan Bailey; his son,
Charles E. 'Eddie' Bailey Jr. and wife Peggy; his daughter,
Connie Mann and husband Buddy; two grandsons, Justin Mann
and Chris Mann; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26, 2009,
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris
Funeral Service. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Bailey's
co-workers from Appalachian Power.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, May 27,
2009, at 11 a.m. in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery, with
the Rev. David Jackson officiating. Those wishing to attend
are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
