A few years ago, I did a little searching for a family friend. I am passing on these notes in case someone is interested. This is not my Bailey family, and I am not pursuing this line, but I may be able to answer if someone has a specific question. Miscellaneous Oral History notes from a d/o Leroy B F Bailey & Ernestine Arndt:
--Her great aunts (her father's aunts), Stella and Bess who were "old maids," are buried Middleport NY.
--Her grandfather was a cooper, was b in NY and d when Leroy was 11 years old.
--Her grandmother was b PA and may have died in childbirth when Leroy was born. Leroy had a brother Milton & a son Milton (1925-1989).
--Her father was English, her mother was Jewish.
--The other part of the Bailey family lived on the west side of Lansing. These 2 parts of the family were not close. The Bailey who owned a grocery store on Ionia street was a cousin of hers. She also remembers hearing about "Old Doc Bailey" and "Old Lady Bailey," his wife.
--Leroy is bd in Gregory or Stockbridge area - Bailey cemetery; Ernestine is at Chapel Hill (d 1970). Later she said there was a plot of 4 graves where Leroy is bd; sz her Bailey grandparents, her Dad, and her uncle are the 4 buried there.
