Searching for letters, journals, and other personal and public documents referencing the life and military service of Alfred Bailey (or Bayley), an African American seaman who served in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. He is listed as having shipped out on numerous vessels, including the sidewheel steamer USS Saginaw and the twin-turreted monitor USS Monadnock. Any and all help appreciated.
