Douglas Webster 'Doug' Bailey, 60, of Knoxville, TN, passed away, Saturday, August 29, 2009. He was born to the late Mary Clarke Webster Bailey Wright and Harry Douglas Bailey on February 24, 1949. He was member of St. John's Cathedral, the Men's Cotillion, and Cherokee Country Club. Doug was a graduate of Webb School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was retired from the flooring business and served as the current Chairman of the Fort Sanders Foundation and served for many years as member and chairman of the Knoxville Board of Zoning Appeals. Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hop Bailey, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Webster. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Leigh Shephard Bailey; son and daughter-in-law, Webster Shepard and Robin Bailey; daughter, Manning Bailey Haun; grandchildren, Beau Douglas and Cash and Logan and Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Ann Bailey; and uncle and aunt, Hop and Fay Bailey, Jr. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the home of Steve and Ann Bailey. A celebration of Doug's life will be held 6 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2009, at St. John's Cathedral with The Very Reverend John C. Ross, Dean and The Reverend Cannon, Thomas J. Rasnick officiating. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fort Sanders Foundation, 280 Fort Sanders West Blvd., Suite 100, Knoxville, TN 37922; or to the Young-Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.
