John Bailey of Edgefield County, South Carolina. John Bailey was born ca. 1773, and I believe that he was born in Virginia. I also believe that Jesse Bailey was his brother, and he was born in VA circa 1764. Both Jesse and John lived in Edgefield County, SC, and they were members of the Red Oak Grove Baptist Church.

John Bailey's wife was Basheba "Shaby". On May 18, 1843, John Bailey died in Edgefield Co., SC. Basheba was born circa 1773 in Virginia, and she died on July 30, 1858 in Edgefield County, SC. Their children were Sarah, Lucy, Elizabeth and Sealy, and all of the children were born in Edgefield. Sarah Bailey (b. c. 1805) married Thomas Emmerson Bussey. Thomas Emmerson Bussey was the son of Zadock Bussey and Nancy. Lucy was married to Mr. Ray. On January 21, 1844, Sealy Bailey and Joab Kilcrease were married in Edgefield Co., SC.

Jesse Bailey's wife was Frances Lesuer, and she was the daughter of James Lesuer and Susannah. On August 20, 1853, Jesse Bailey died in Edgefield County, SC, and he was 89 years old. Some of Jesse's family lived in Alabama at the time of his death.Jesse and Frances had Mertel,Jessee jr and Frances.
