Who was Elizabeth Hammond Bailey Lewis?
14 May 1790 This the LW&T of Leroy Hammond of Snow Hill in Edgefield Co, SC. Esq. I will and direct that all my just debts & funeral expenses be first paid by my executors from the estate and effects and I do direct my executors to make sale and dispose of at public or private sale all my lands, tenements, houses, lots, goods, chattels, effects and hereditaments except a lot of land containing sic acres and one quarter at Falmouth in Edgefield County on which my inspection ware house now stands and also two lots of land at Springfield near Augusta in Georgia or such part or parts as may be sufficient for that purpose and to make necessary title for the same. I do dispose of the remainder of my estate as I give unto my only son LeRoy Hammond one moiety or half of the residue of the estate both real and personal forever. I give unto my beloved wife Mary Ann the other moiety or half of the residue of the estate both real and personal forever. I give unto my beloved wife Mary Ann the other moiety of the estate during her natural life and at her decease I give her moiety unto my son LeRoy provided never the less that my son shall depart this life without lawful issue of his body or making a will or deed to the property given to him, in that case I give and devise the same part and every part unto John, Joshua and Susey chn of my brother John Hammond and James and Samuel chn of my sister Elizabeth Bailey now Lewis, to them and their heirs forever to share equally…I hereby decree that my executors to cause my two grand children Le Lewis and Polly to be well educated out of my estate. I appoint my beloved wife Mary Ann, My son Leroy Hammond and George Whitefield and Charles Goodwen Esq as executrix and executors. Wit; Wm Matthews…..
