It looks like I am missing the common generation, too. But perhaps some of the names and places can point you in the right direction.

Be ready for the flood.

1        Mr. Alexander Baillie       b: 1835 in Edinburgh/Gore Bridge, Borthwick, Scotland
.              +Ms. Ann Pott       b: 1837 in Roxburgh/Wilton, Scotland
.       2        Ms. Mary Baillie       b: Abt. 1857 in Roxburgh/Wilton, Scotland
.       2        Mr. John Baillie       b: 1858 in Roxburgh/Wilton, Scotland
.       2        Mr. Martin Baillie       b: 1860
.              +Ms. Bella Douglas
.                     3        Ms. Isobel Baillie       b: 1895 in Hawick, Scotland
.              +Mr. Robert Wrigley
.                     3        Ms. Annie Baillie
.                     3        Mr. Alex Baillie
.       2        Mr. Alexander Simpson Baillie       b: 13 January 1862 in Selkirkshire/Selkirk, Scotland
.       2        Mr. William Baillie       b: 1864 in Selkirkshire/Selkirk, Scotland
.       2        Mr. James Little Baillie       b: 2 February 1866 in Selkirkshire/Shielsaugh, Scotland       .       2        Ms. Agnes Simpson Baillie       b: 18 January 1868
.       2        Mr. Robert Baillie       b: 20 December 1869 in Selkirkshire/Selkirk, Scotland
.       2        Ms. Margaret Ann Baillie       b: 17 November 1871 in Selkirkshire/Selkirk, Scotland
.       2        Mr. David Baillie       b: 17 March 1874 in Selkirkshire/Selkirk, Scotland

I am descended from James Little Baillie, who emigrated to Canada. I live in Edmonton, Alberta.

It looks like Alexander Baillie left his home town of Gore Bridge, married Ann Pott, and spent the rest of his life at Bowhill Castle as a Carpenter. His sons were also taught in the trade. On the 1881 census, Martin was no longer living at home. I notice that Bella Douglas, his wife, carries the name of the estate owners. Oops. That is certainly worth investigating.

Your Thomas Bailey would then be a possible cousin or nephew to Alexander Baillie?
