Annie Baillie born 1853 died 1939, daughter of Joseph Baillie a boilermaker and Mary Mclean. Annie Baillie married Archibald Gemmell, riveter. She had one child with Archibald, Annie born October 31st October 1883 at 46 Surrey Lane, Glasgow. She had 3 more children but it is unsure who the father of these children was as discribed below from information taken from there birth certificates.
The second child, Janet Howieson Baillie or Gemmell is my grandmother.
Birth 1886 Hutchesontown, Glasgow. 644/11/70
JANET HOWIESON BAILLIE or GEMMELL was born on the 16th December 1885 at 11;50 AM AT 390 Mathieson Street, Glasgow. Daughter Ann Baillie, Housekeeper, formerly domestic servant, wife of Archibald Gemmell, caulker, who she delared, is not the father of the child and further that she has had no intercourse with him for about two years.
Informant: Ann Gemmell, her + mark, mother. Don Hamilton, registrar, witness to the making of the mark. Reg'd 11th January 1886 Glasgow.

District of Hutchestown (644/11) year 1886, entry no.79
JANET HOWIESON BAILLIE or GEMMELL - Correction of column 1 - Annotate the margin of the above noted entry as follows - RCE 602/1996/737 - In column 1 for Janet Howieson Baillie or Gemmell substitute JANET HOWIESON GEMMELL.

Therefore on the 21st October 1996 an unknown member of the family had requested the Registrar General to change the entry in the bith certificate regading Janet's surname. The name of "Baillie" was dropped from the original birth certificate which was registered on the 11th January 1886 by Janet's mother, ann Baillie or Gemmell.

WILLIAMINA BAILLIE or GEMMELL was born on the 12th April 1888 at 5.45 am at 46 Surrey Lane, Glasgow. Daughter of Annie Baillie housekeeper, wife of Archibald Gemmell, ship caulker jouneyman, who, she declares, is not the the father of the child, and further that she has had no person communication with him since she left him 4 years ago.
Informant: Annie Gemmell mother. Reg'd 2nd May 1888 Glasgow.
Birth 1892 Hutchesontown, Glasgow. 644/11/2046
MARY BAILLIE or GEMMELL was born on the 16th September 1892 at noon at Mathieson Street, Glasgow. Daughter of Annie Baillie housekeeper, wife of Archibald Gemmell ship caulker journeyman, who, she delcares, is not the father of the child and further that she has had no personal communication with him since she left him 8 years ago.
Informant: Annie Gemmell mother. Reg'd 10th October 1892 Glasgow.
If anyone can add to this it would be appreciated. I have information on the marriages and deaths of the children, I am interested in who the fathers may be and ancestors of Joseph Baillie and Mary Mclean.
