Hi just to update my message,my grandfather was born 31st August 1911 in Belfast. He married my grandmother Margaret Stewart from East Belfast 29th April,1929 in Belfast. They lived in no;1 Kyle Street,Sydenham Belfast and had 4 children,Margaret Dowling Baillie,Jean McDonald Baillie,Anne Stewart Baillie and my father,Robert McDonald Baillie. There seems to be a use of surnames as middle names, maybe there's a clue in this. Stewart is obvious and Dowling came from Grandad's stepfather,McDonald? Grandad had a sister called May who married David Alexander and they lived in Sandbrooke Park? off Connsbrook Ave; Sydenham East Belfast. He also had a half sister called Bella Baillie-Dowling and a half brother Thomas Dowling. Grandad became a gunner sergeant with the Royal Artillery Regiment in the 2nd World War and was in Norway for liberatio0n day. He then worked as a boiler man in the Ropeworks East Belfast and died in Feb 1985 from as asbestos lung cancer as a result. As I said before, his records would have been destroyed in a fire in the public record office in Dublin and I am trying to trace his ancstors, can anyone help?,with many thanks,Tracey.
