My parents were Richard Allport Baines and Henrietta Hamilton Moore. Richard was the youngest of 4 sons and 1 daughter of Egerton Baines. Richard and his family lived in London, ON and Hamilton, ON. Richard's sister, Edith Baines, died in England during WWI.

Of my father's 3 brothers, I only know about 2 of them.
My uncle William Baines had 2 daughters, Genevieve and Elizabeth and 1 son Egerton Baines who was killed in WWI. Elizabeth married Roy McMurtry, Sr. I can't remember who Genevieve married, but I think that she moved to the USA.

Uncle Christopher lived in Port Hope, ON.
They had 1 daughter.

I am one of 6 children of my parents Richard Allport Baines and Henrietta Hamilton Moore. I was born Jan. 8, 1913. 4 sisters:
Athol (b.~1908), Margaret (b.1911), Frances (b.~1912) and Dorothy (b.~1916). I have 1 brother, Egerton, born (b.~1917). Athol and Frances are deceased, but the others of my siblings live in Toronto.

My father, Richard, started work at age 14 in a hardware store, James Wright & Co. in London, ON and then in 1894 he started his own steel warehouse business which eventually became Baines & David Ltd. in Toronto. His partner was Mark David, a Welshman.

My wife was Frances Helen Isabelle McGibbon from Penetang, ON. Her father was Archie McGibbon, a lumberman, originally from Sarnia, ON. Her mother died in childbirth.
We have had 4 sons. Richard died as a baby around 1947. The others are Peter McGibbon (b. 1942), Robert (b.1946) and Christopher Allport (b. 1949).
