My great great grandfather was William Baines. He was an Indian Rubber Worker in Manchester and died before 1903. His wife was called Ellen Handley. Their son Thomas Stephen Baines was married to Mary Quinlivan on 1st June 1903. Thomas Stephen Baines was born on 27th December 1874 and was a lamplighter with the Manchester Corporation. He died on 21st November 1948 in Bredbury, Stockport. Thomas had three children: William (b. 1909), Lily (b. 1906) and Thomas (b. 1904). Their surnames are spelt either Baines, Bain or Baine in their birth certificates. William Baines was my grandfather but I have no idea what happened to Lily or Thomas.

I imagine that Ellen and William were born in the Manchester area around 1840 but I have no information on them.
