I am researching my maternal great great grandfather, Archibald Barkes, who purchased land in Monroe Co., OH in 1833. Asa Barkes purchased nearby land in 1834 and George Barkes purchased nearby land in 1836 and 1838. While the Archibald that I am researching would have only been 8 years old at the time of this land purchase, I suspect these 3 men were probably brothers and MY Archibald was a son of one of them. Do you think there could be a connection to your George Barkes?
