       Abraham Barnes was born Abt. 1730 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, and died after 24 January 1794 in Robeson County, North Carolina. He married Martha Fort 1750 in North Carolina, daughter of George Fort and Mary. She was born 1730 in Isle of Wight/Virginia, and died Bef. 1794 in Robeson Co. North Carolina.

In the name of God Amen. I Abraham Barnes of the State of North Carolina and Robeson County being well of body and of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following vis
1st I give and bequeath and devise to my son Josiah Barnes all my land lying below the Rice Field Branch on both sides of the Old Field Swamp. Also one hundred acres lying on the Burnt Reed Branch joining Samuel Smiths land. Also fifty acres lying on both sides of the Old Road and near Joseph Rackleys lands.
2nd I give and bequeath and devise to my son Elias Barnes all my other land above said Rice Field Branch on both sides of Old Field Swamp and else where.
3rd And it is my will and desire that my Personal Estate of Negro stock of all kind and all the rest of my moveable property be equally divided between my four children that is to say Josiah Barnes, Elias Barnes, Asenath Willis and Mary Bridgers and I do appoint my sons Josiah Barnes and Elias Barnes to be my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of January 1794.

       Josiah Barnes was born Abt. 1756 in Robeson/North Carolina, and died 07 September 1810 in Port Gibson/Claiborne/Miss. He married Esther Smith Abt. 1776 in Robeson/North Carolina, She was born 1760 in North Carolina, and died 1830 in Port Gibson/Claiborne/Miss.

To wife Esther: slaves, plantation and personal estate; Legatees: Martha Willis (Dau)- $1.00, having received her share; William (son) $1.00; Nancy Flowers (Dau)-personal estate; Benjamin Bryan Barnes (grandson); Polly Barnes. Rest of estate to be divided between sons Joseph, Lewis and Elias and daughters Helen, Susan, Sally, Harriett and Asenath Barnes. Exrs. Ignatius Flowers, (son-in-law); and Thomas Barnes.

        James Barnes was born 1785 in Robeson/North Carolina, and died Bef. Sept. 7, 1810 in Claiborne Co. Mississippi. He married Alice Lee Abt. 1805 in Claiborne/Mississippi, daughter of Everett Lee and Charlotte. She was born 1790 in Robeson Co. North Carolina (Source: Calculated age from census, Alice was under 21 in the 1810 census; over 21 in the 1816 census; between 26 and 45 in the 1820 census; 40-60 in the 1830 census.), and died 1831 in Holmes County, Mississippi.

Know all men by these presents that I, Josiah Barnes have for and in consideration of the natural good will and affection I have and ___ toward my Son James Barnes, here given and granted and by these presents doth give, grant and convey on to the said James Barnes, his heirs and assigns these certain Negroes; one named Jerry, Toney, and the other Seally: which Negroes I the said Josiah Barnes for my self, my heirs, Extrs and ad____, doth warrant and forever defend from myself, my heirs, my extrs and _____, and from all and every other person or persons lawfully claiming or to claim, unto the said James Barnes, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness thereof the said Josiah Barnes doth hereunto set his hand and Seal, this 31st day of March 1810.
