Hi Mike, I fot the info about William & John Basnett from Gordon Basnight in North Carolina. He has done extensive research on the Basnett/Basnight ancestry. His e-mail address is gbasnight@cconnect.net .He might be able to tell you about the source.
There are only a few sources for records in the 1600's.
Fordon is a major contributor to the Tyrrell County web site in NC. If for some reason you can't get any info from him let me know and I will send you what I can.
