BASTEDO/BESTEDER Family in AL

Looking for ancestry of John BESTEDER, b. in NJ about 1803. The surname has many varient spellings in census records for NJ. In Alabama, John is "Besteder". He is believed derived from a BASTEDO/BESTEDO family in Middlesex or Morris County, NJ. This from cencus records: in his 20's, John Besteder married "Aliza" (b. SC). He obtained land in Marengo Co., AL, where he became a planter of some means (value in 1860 was $10,000/$20,000), living there for at least 30 years before his death(?). John and Aliza had at least 3 or 4 children, Mary M., Westley A., Josaphine, and Fallon (?) The Besteder name is still found in Marengo Co., AL. Any information on the origins of this family--where they came from, John's parents and siblings, his wife's family, etc.-- will be greatly appreciated.
