Mrs. Clara A. Gurk, 62, a former resident of Washtenaw county, died Saturday afternoon (9/4/1948) at her home in Lansing. She was born in Washtenaw county on April 21, 1886, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beadle. (This was a 2nd marriage for her to Mr. Gurk. 1st marriage was to Walter Sutherland, father of the 2 daughters mentioned). A resident of Lansing for the past 14 years, she was a member of the Judson Memorial Baptist Church in that city. Surviving are her husband, Rudolph (an older brother of Edwin Gurk), two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Ethel)Gurk of Lansing, and Mrs. Frank (Lavada) Piper of Blanchard; three brothers, William Beadle of Elkhart, Ind., Edwin Beadle of Belleville, and Elmer Beadle of California; two sisters, Mrs. Arl Mitchell and Mrs. Jack Melton both of Belleville; four grandchildren; and three great-granchildren. Funeral services were held at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral home in Lansing this morning and graveside services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon in Bethlehem Cemetery here.
