Hello Kathryn Beadle
Where do I start?!!!
John Edward Beadle who married Harriett Amelia Sayers was the son of John Beadle and Maria Agnes Lee. This John Beadle became a Greengrocer in Walworth. He was the eldest son of John Beadle (born October 26, 1819) and Mary Ann Gothard (her family is also spelled Goddard). It is through Mary Ann's mother Sarah that the Greengrocer's business comes into the Beadle family.
This John Beadle (b. 1819) is the son of Richard Beadle and Charlotte (I don't have her maiden name but she was born in Sheerness, Kent in about 1798). This Richard Beadle is the elder brother of Elizabeth Beadle (b. January 19 1805 at St. Mary Lambeth). She is my Great Great Great Grand Mother!!! She married George James Knight, a Parchment Maker, shortly before 1827 and probably in Bermondsey. All the related families stick very closely together in Walworth; they are Beadle, Knight, Bryant, Venn, Grose, Gothard/Goddard, Lee.
This Richard and Elizabeth Beadle are the children of yet another Richard Beadle and Charlotte (again, I don't know this Charlotte's maiden name either).
I hope this helps. Have you any information on the Beadle greengrocers of Walworth? Ever heard of the Knight connection?
